Our CTO, Mr. Stepanov, was a speaker for the 1st Global CemCCUS seminar held on 14th of June, 2022 by Global Cement magazine.

He made a presentation, Paper 5 at the 2nd Session  on "Advanced chemical absorption of CO2 with sequestration in ready-mix concrete."

During the presentation the more detailed info on CarbonCapt-Trad was given to the seminar participants, as well as newly developed CarbonCapt-EDM mobile module was introduced to the global cement industry. The CarbonCapt-EDM is a first ever unit for fast, cost-effective and ecology-friendly withdrawal of Heat Stable Amine Salts from the amine absorbents, which are proved to be the most popular mean of CO2 stripping from the flue gas in power, chemical and cement industries.

Mr. Stepanov also informed the colleagues on the results of the liquid CO2 injection tests to the ready mix concrete. The most important outcome of the tests is: when using the liquid CO2 you can save up to 8-10% of cement and simply substitute it with the liquid CO2 without any compromise on the concrete consistency and its strength. Moreover, if you operate a cement plant and have 30-40 pcs subsidiary ready mix batching plants, it is more than recommended to use the CO2 from the cement plant for concrete production.

Our CTO, Mr. Stepanov, was a speaker at the 2nd Global CemCCUS seminar, held by the Global Cement magazine on 10th of May, 2023. He presented Paper 6 at the session 2 "Modular Rotary Absorber and Desorber as a further development of CarbonCapt advanced chemical absorption technology for CO2 from OPC production".

During the presentation Mr. Stepanov informed the international cement industry specialists about the recent development of CarbonCapt technology,- rotary absorber and desorber, which will be used instead of the traditional columns, but will have higher efficiency, due to the unique design and more effective gas-liquid mass exchange process.

Mr. Stepanov also informed the international colleagues about the current status of  the proprietary and well-proven CarbonCapt-EDM mobile unit. This unit was used at 4 big projects at the refinery and chemical plants, where there was a need to withdraw the Heat Stable Amine Salts (HSAS) from the Amine absorbents. 

Just  several figures from the recent projects:

310 ton of amine absorbent was treated at CarbonCapt-EDM plant:

The total content of HSAS was reduced from 1.9% down to 0.4% (4.74 times).

The other project had even more challenges:

The content of HSAS (formates, acetates, propionates, glycolates, oxelates) phosphates, nickel, aluminum and ferrum chlorides) in the amine absorbent was 3.2% and the content of metallic inclusions was 5%.

After the amine absorbent treatment in CarbonCapt-EDM mobile plant the residual content of HSAS was reduced to 0.5% (6.4 times), the metallic inclusions mass was reduced to 0.1% (50 times).
